My first release was this track from a cassette tape compilation called Rising From The Red Sand on Third Mind records. The piece was made from some recordings I had made in San Francisco in 1981 using home made instruments and a saxophone. Then re-worked in England adding an EMS Synthi AKS. (the one that came in a briefcase with three fine tune oscillators). The group Portion Control who also had a track on this compilation lent me a Greengate DS3 system that turned a mac classic into an eight bit sampler. It was the first accessible sampling system; it came with a demo 12″ that mocked ferociously Trevor Horn’s productions and the Radio One DJ Pee… Pee… Peter… Pow… Pow… Powell. Peter Powell.
